I'm kinda new to Moray and have worked with POV for years freehand so this
experience with Moray is exilarating to say the least. I'm using the latest
version of Moray....what is that 3.5 ? And the latest non-beta version of POV
too.
I've loaded bombs on F-105's and love the aircraft so to model the flightline at
Korat, Thailand as it looked in 1966 I thought naturally, that I'd need the
aircraft first. Here's what I have so far. It's made up of no meshes since
Moray can't smooth meshes yet. There's lots of Bezier patches and
translational sweeps in this model. I can post the Moray model if anyone wants
to mess around with it or work with it on their own.
Next step is the landing gear and the armament hanging under the wings and
belly.
I have no idea how to do the UV mapping of "decals" yet and don't even know if
it's possible but I'll come to that bridge eventually.

What do you mean? Moray can subdivise meshes at display and/or at export.
(in mesh edit tab)
You have a "Smooth mesh" option in the Edit menu as well
BTW you have a Anti-aliasing option in the render settings ;-)

In Moray mesh editor you can edit uv coordinates of the number of faces you
want.
Right click of the name of the view you want and choose "UV" at the bottom
of the popup menu.
Now the image_map is displayed as a 1x1 square (Shift+F if the view is not
centered)
The UV coordinates of the vertices of the selected faces is displayed and
can be edited here
For more details on mesh edit, see Moray help topics, particularly "What's
new"

Hey Thanks Marc. I'll try that. Can you tell that I'm new to Moray? If I can
use meshes then a new world of modeling opens up. Thanks again.

Moray and meshes work indeed, but if you really want to model in meshes in
an easy way, I recommend Wings3D (free and easy) or Blender (free and
complex) or Silo2 (not free and easy), amongs other things. With the use of
Poseray the models can then easily be integrated into Moray scenes and hence
into POV-Ray.

There's usually 16 planes in a squadron but the flight line usually has
ancillary things such as blue pickup trucks and a couple of "bread" trucks, a
fuel truck or two, and lots of people walking around, or working on things etc.
I need to model all that stuff. Unless somebody knows where I can get Moray
models of a pickup truck, etc. Anybody? Anyway, I'm getting there with the
model of the flight line.

There are a few places that have free 3d models that you can convert with
Poseray.

Hey Thanks Stephen. I found a gas truck that I might be able to make use of.
I'm looking for free stuff that might have been used in Korat and so far the
pickens are slim.
I've gotten some more done on the F-105....opened the cockpit, installed an
ejection seat complete with headrest etc. I gotta look into UV-mapping some
day soon so I can put some "decals" on the plane(s). I'll post the pov, inc,
and ini files in the binaries section so you guys can download it and play
around with it if you want to.

It is looking good, a little AA wouldn't come amiss though ;)
UVMapper is a neat little tool and UVMapper classic is freeware.

There is also the 'object' pattern in POV which too might suffice for
decals.

I thought the flightline would be naked without the ubiqutious C-130 so I
thought I'd model one of those as well. Here's what I have so far:
