Hi all.
It's been a very long time since I don't post anything here, but the
CGSphere comp caught my attention.
So here is a wip for an entry called SEED.
Everything was done with hamapatch except for the paving stones and the
hurdles (?) that are CSG.
I used Moray to make the CSG objects and to import the hamapatch objects and
converting them to mesh2 objects and create UV maps.
It's the first time I use focal blur in an image and I like the results.
I still have to work more on textures (the germ, a bump mapping for the
seed) and adjust the final lightning, but it's close to be finished.
Just wanted to share it.

Welcome back, Txemi! Good to have you around again.
I like this image and its subtle humour. Also the beautiful background 
transformation and paving stones. I think the focal blur is very effective 
here: subtle and not exagerated. The way I personally prefer it used. And I 
almost forgot what a great program Hamapatch was/is. Nice to see it still 
used so effectively.
Indeed the textures need some more work. Awaiting the final result!

Don;'t you think that the paving is too perfect...?
Also is the intact fallen lamp part of the humor or you forgot to
"break" the glass.

I really like this image .... great work. I've not done a CGSphere entry but 
I did look at the rules awhile back and was wondering if you noticed in the 
rules that the grid plane shouldn't be modified? Please don't take offence 
at me pointing this out. I'd just hate to see a great piece get rejected for 
a simple rule violation. My bad if I read the rules wrong.

Nice idea Txemi!

   However, I think I would change the seed texture for this one. I'd also 
change the scale of either the lamp posts or the tiles to be walked on too.

Looking good.  My only comment would be the grid plane, personally I like to
stick to the rules which say it can't be changed and should be visible to
some degree.  However a lot of people tend to ignore that rule anyways so
it's really up to you.

Guess I should have read the other posts before I posted.
Regarding the treatment of this: in my experience, I don't recall images
getting rejected because of this (there are several that ignore this rule
among the top rated images if you take a look), however some people may
vote down a bit because of it while others won't  While I am stickler for
the rule when creating my scenes, I don't tend too let it weigh too much on
my perception of others, the sphere size/location rule is much more
important to me.

Great CGSPhere image, the focal blur is very good and I like the floor I
know it is breaking the rules a bit but there are a lot of images that
change the floor and at least the pattern is similar. The textures look OK
to me so I am keen to see the finished version.

I have almost finished the work with the textures and lightning, maybe on
sunday I'll have the final image.

Well, the paving is as it is (I took a real paving stone on the street). I
think the contrast between the blurred and not blurred zones on the paving
make it more interesting.

The fallen lamp is intact to increase the surrealistic feeling.
