Hi all,

a while ago I decided to try for a more complicated blob as head for my
posable toys and came up with THESE people :-)

Special thanks to Gilles Tran for the tips on his website:
- multicolored cows can be made using bozo !
- horn macro (finally here is somebody to wear those horns :-) )

My 5.5 year old daughter objected that these cows have neither udder nor
tail, and that it would be strange to have cows as people AND as farm
animals on  "Pig Island" ...

The sphere that is producing the light doesn't look bright enough to me, but

True. But (there's always one):
- udders would keep them from wearing clothing - though HERE they're dancing
in the nude :-)
- tails sounds like spheresweeps, which would have serious impact on render
times
The cheap-sweep macro (can't recall the author now) works only with constant
radius, which wouldn't look too good, I suppose, especially since the pigs
don't have tails yet, either ...
Does anybody know about something like cheapsweep with variable radius ?

Yes, those will slow down render time. The only solution that comes to my 
mind, but I suppose that is not what you want, is to make udders and tails 
in Wings3D and export them as mesh2.

Udders could probably be made as a multicomponent blob, but I don't want
them anyhow, because of the clothing issue :-)

And there is one minor problem with Wings3D, which I may quote directly from
the "system requirements" paragraph on their homepage:
"There is no Mac OS 9 version."

For the time being, I won't upgrade to OSX, for reasons I don't want to
discuss here :-)

sphere_sweep can slow down renders but mainly for larger ones: those that 
sparcely use large volumes, big bounding boxes with whide curves and narow 
section. This lead to testing against the sweep for pixels that are very far 
away from the actual sweep, and this is what causes the slow downs. This is why 
splitting large sweeps into several smaller ones can greatly improve the 
rendering time.
In the case of your tails, the sweeps wouls be relatively small and simple, have 
moderate curving, leading to higher filling. The slowdown will thus be localised 
to a rather small area.
