It has been raining in Gancaloon since:
http://news.povray.org/povray.binaries.images/thread/%3C52a72c87%40news.povray.org%3E/?ttop=404986&toff=350&mtop=389279
Since then, some little things were done but not much. This is the
state-of-the-art from last I worked on the scene. I intend to do some
further work (those yellow boots!! those ugly capes!!) and see if I can
finally reach a terminal phase.
Render time: a bit below 5 hours.

What is your memory usage when working on this scene?

Hi Thomas.
Well done ! Rendering wet scenes always seemed too difficult to me. The few
tries I made were not satisfactory at all. You did it like a maestro ! Congrats
for the atmosphere and mood, and for technicity !
PS : am jealous ...

Much praise at first for Jaime Vives Piqueres as the primary author of
the rain macros and the rain scene concept. I only did improve a bit on
them. Then I extrapolated further into the scene building itself. Wet
scenes are difficult indeed and I am still not entirely satisfied with
this one but one learns! One learns!

Honestly, I don't know as I didn't track it. I shall try to get some
meaningful info next time I render the scene.

The textures look flatter than in your previous render. And what happened to
the ground cover?
I see you got the trees mended, though. :-)

Hey, what..? A medieval place, but people with modern yellow rain coats
and yellow rubber boots? He he he! I call that a "time paradoxum". :-P

If you use Windows, it is easy to track the memory usage: just keep the
Windows Task Manager open during the render, there inside the Processes
tab. And there you can see at all times, how much memory PvEngine is
using right at that second. :-)

I know how to do it; I need to remember to go see, as in general I am
not much interested myself in the memory usage ;-)

Ground cover: Must have forgotten a switch somewhere...
Textures: I don't know. It concerns the trees mostly and I may have
changed those...

Yes, although I need to go back to the drawing board to remember what I
exactly did, and there was some promise to provide a TomTree tutorial
update...
