Hairs are in the air it seems ;-)
Wanting to have a POV-Ray alternative to Poser's dynamic hairs and
especially beards, I concocted something fairly simple, different from
Robert McGregor's SweepSplineHair macro. It works well for short hair
but would be not so good for long hair. Best use is for beards and that
is my aim. This version looks acceptable imo. Using 40k hairs on the
skull and 30k hairs for the beard. Basic hair is one mesh2 strand.

Not bad, I think the hair at the top of the chin is poking out too much should
be angled slightly downwards.

Yes. At this moment, everything is more or less automated but I need to
build in more local control, by introducing evalpig().

Sweet! Now make the beard black, a little thicker and "shaggier"
(randomized hair length depending on position), and you'll get an
awesome Afghan!
See you in Khyberspace!

<grin> My method would not be so good for that. I need to see if the
glitch I experience in Poser is repairable, then with dynamic hair it
would be possible.

Better than I thought, with a slightly curly hair (same as previous) but
longer, and in an unkempt, rough fashion.

Nice. Since you're taking requests, give the guy a porn-style mustache

Real beard hair (in most men) would be coarser, more like wire (at least
my beard looks that way)... this guy's is too fluffy!

Looking at my own beard, the edge on the sheeks is WAY to deffined.
Beards usualy don't stop at a well deffined line.
