...Bad.
Just an update on 'Feathered Friends", but now I need a new name.
Suggestions?
I'm thinking about putting an ornate (I knew I shouldn't have typed that
word!) iron fence/railing just behind the skellington and running alongside
the river (south bank).
Yes or no?

I would suggest using an isosurface or blobs for the ground. You have to do
something about the ground texture as well - try an agate texture.

putting it in front of the skeleton protecting the bank. Then change the
camera position, back and to the left, so you have more foreground.
PS could you drop me an email, as I would like to ask you something about
jewellery.

Heh, yes I did chuckle when I typed that. It's a word my Dad used to
use. :o)

Hmm, ok, i'll have a play...

Why? Is there something wrong with the ground as it is?
You have to do

Hmm, yes, I *have* to get better at texturing, but what's wrong with it
at the moment? I've used an image_map of an actual rock, and then
bump_mapped it on top. I wonder if I should try and find a better ground
texture?

The shape doesn't look natural to me, it needs more uneven random
bumps/hills/valleys etc.

The texture doesn't match the shape of the ground/rock. Maybe you should use
a photo of a similar scene as reference.
I like your idea.

Ah, I see. Ok, I'll play with that.

Ok, I'll have a play with this too. Thanks for the input.

Mozilla Seamonkey offers a spell checker and Google is good with
guessing words ("Did you mean...?") ;).
Just as a hint, if someone is missing one =).

How about, "Bat Boy Gets It Bad"?
I find the wings a little too imposing on the boy. My feeling is that the
bones should be much narrower, but there should be generous muscle
attachment to his back and shoulder. (In the real world, a boy-sized flyer
would need pecs that would embarrass Superman, attached to an imposing,
keel-shaped sternum. I suppose i'm impressed by the *power* of flight.) I
also think the wings would "feel" more balanced wrt the rest of the boy if
they were a tad shorter.

Nah, i think it would be distracting. But there's nothing stopping you from
trying it. :-) I think a barbed wire fence might work.
Is that an older version of the Poser skeleton? The neck vertebrae don't
look anything like in real life, and in your posting last week, the lower
back vertebrae have a Pillsbury dough boy look to them. I know there's a
recent Poser model that's pretty accurate.
Neck vertebrae: http://www.gwc.maricopa.edu/class/bio201/vert/cerv.htm
They're shaped quite a bit differently from the back vertebrae. (Note that
C2 has a pivot on top, and C1 is just a ring with no body, so it fits over
the pivot. This is how you turn your head. :-) It also illustrates why
you should *never* shake a baby; if C1 becomes dislocated off C2, baby's
spinal cord is history. And so is baby.)

I have no suggestions to name.. however..
1. Lightning. I don't know what you are going for but to me it looks like a
night scene. As such, it's way to bright.
The presence of a CG light is way to obvious. It completely washes out the
colours and takes away the effects of, for instance, your "laser" and
fires. Have a look at these:
http://www.west-scotland-tourism.com/Glenborrodale-Castle/castle/Castle-night.jpg
http://lostworld.pair.com/disneyland/fantasyland/fantasyland_images/castle-night-sep99.jpg
2. Textures. As mentioned, you need to fix them.
3. Ground. Too sharp. Go with one of the previous suggestions.
4. Composition. I don't know what you want to focus on, but if you keep it
like this the scene is too empty on
the right side. Nothing is going on there.
That's it for now.. :)
Regards,
Stefan
