So, I've downloaded Silo Trial and am experimenting with it to see how fast
I can learn to use it. This was achieved today, in roughly 3 hours modelling
time (which would have been a lot shorter if I hadn't tested exported now
and again to see various results, also, I started with Silo Learning, which
only exports 100 faces, and few stupid paths had been taken which I couldn't
reverse with Undo due to the late realization of stupidity :-).

Anyways, I'm kinda excited what's possible with this in such a short time,
though I have to experiment some more with the exporting to get a more
efficient workflow. But I'm leaning towards buying this app and opening new
possibilities for my images. :-)

Regards,
Tim

Well, for those interested, here's the final result. I'll be working on some
other experimental meshes these next days, though I'm already fairly
convinced that this modeller fits my needs. This is what I've come up with
after using Silo for one day.

Tim

Cool model. I've tried Silo, and I don't think it has any advantages over
Wings (freeware). I find Wings much easier to get stuff done, and it loads
large models with ease. I guess I'm a little biased because I've been using
Wings for 3 years. Have you tried Wings?

Yeah, installed it today and want to dive into it tomorrow. One thing I
find Silo is useful for is that I can subdivide, but it'll still keep the
low-res, so I can modify whilst seeing the subdivided outcome. I need to
experiment with Wings a little more to see if I could work as well with it
as with Silo. I don't intend to rush into buying Silo.

On Wings3D, press TAB. It enters a "subdividing preview mode". BTW, Blender
2.36 also has some very nice subdivision surfaces modelling features now.
You might want to experiment with it.
