That's fairly simple, you used the pigments without a color map, therefore
the bozo ones use the default bozo colo map which is quite inappropriate
for wood.

For 15A and 16A this does not apply, but they look fairly normal to me.

Yes. I noticed it however most pigments loks like colored correctly even they
have no colour_map specified ? If it is correct behaviour then it is report for
documentation becouse there is no note (or I couldn't find any) about default
color_map for wood and bozo. I checked 6.7.11.36, 6.7.11.4, 6.7.1.3 and others.

Also when I use my script with pigment{wood/bozo} for objects I achived sharp
green, blue, red and white shapes for bozo and light/dark brown for wood with no
smooth transition however documentations says in 'bozo' section "If two points
are close together, the noise values at those points are close to each other."
If they aren't I expect some color_map included. But it looks like it is not
described anywhere.

Yes, they could be normal. And they have color_map specified. I wonder why some
of the pigments have color_map specidfied twice (for pigment declaration and
then again for texture declaration).

This is all due to the default color_map. Bozo gets one with sharp
borders while wood has a smooth brown color_map by default. This has been
standard for a long time, just have a look at the 3.1 source. I think it
has already been considered changing this to a default grey gradient for
all patters, but this would discontinue old standards.

And i think you are right, the default color maps are not documented.

This could be simple to achive if it could work

#default {color_map{[0 color rgb 0][1 color rgb 1]}

This way all old default color_maps could be still active but replaced with
above line to new behaviour. But it is rather feature request so no discuss.
