1) good. I was just poking fun at the whole language wars kind of things. :-)

2) I haven't heard anything official, have you? Last I heard they had just done one
survey to
ask what their users might like.

3) good idea. Don't pay for it. Only put it in if you can do it for free. You probably
have
time limited just like myself. Maybe if I get PNG support done as a .DLL I'll send
stuff
over. At the moment I'm doing some Java POV-Ray render distribution thing, so it might
be a
while :-)

I should've known...

They're always surprising me with new versions, I don't really follow it, I just
picked this up somewhere and thought it interesting enough to remember. Like
many Windows-users I keep an eye out to other platforms waiting to make the
jump. If Borland really manages to do something with the portability that would
really be great. Whatever you think of their commercial policy and customer
support I think they've made some of the best programmer's tools.

Limited time is why I don't even want to try to cook something up my self. If
you do, please let me know, but I'm also interested in your distribution-project
as I mentioned in he related thread so please don't give up on that.

Re: PNG DLLs

The URL for the library is
http://www.cdrom.com/pub/png/pngcode.html
but for some reason, there doesn't seem to
be precompiled Win32 DLL's. I have a DLL
and export library I could email, what does
Delphi need to link to a VC++ 5.0 DLL?

I have no idea, but if you'd like to send it to me I might be able to figure it
out.

It's a pascal derivative developed by Borland as a competitor to MS's
Visual Basic *and* C/C++. If you can get the hang of Pascal (which -
with some documentation - most people can) then it's an intruiging if
slightly unusual programming environment.

It's easy (I'm told) to get very, very fond of. Outclasses VB in most
ways and is sort-of on a par with C/C++ in terms of speed of execution
of programs developed in it.

I finally succeeded in finding a working PNG-lib that's easy enough for me to
use. So here you go:
version 1.3

That's not very nice.
But explainable.
In my enthusiasm I uploaded the file without
checking.
It appears not to have been accepted because
it execeeded the amount of diskspace
I may use at my provider.
It is fixed now.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
