How much time do you get to vote after voting starts?

I can't spot it on the IRTC site.

Normally a couple of weeks. The site should be updated soon with the precise
deadline for voting.

Neither have I. Looking forward to it though. I've got a friend who uses Max
and Bryce who is going to come over and help.

You'll be there all night! ;)

Yes, it should be fun. I'm using Winvote so I've glanced through
all of them already, and for the most part, I like what I see, there are
some that will be hard to judge.

Yes, I'm not sure yet how to score something like mrzero. The image is nice
looking, but artistic? Plus, there is no description of how the image was
created, or even which software was used. Is it common practice to give
these images a 0 technical score?

Creativity and interpretation are also difficult for a round like this. With
topics like Worlds Within Worlds or Frozen Moments, a clever or unique
interpretation can be very important. With Spectacular Landscapes, however,
the subject matter is explicitly stated. I know on what basis I am going to
determine this score, but I think that this might be different for every
voter.

You may base you scores on anything you wish. Some voters feel that each
image should stand on its own and not be compared to the others. I find
this impossible to do. This is why WinVote has sorting features.

The hard part of voting is to apply your voting style consistently and
fairly.

Good luck voting,
Bob

It's so obviously made with Terragen that I guess the author didn't think it
was necessary to add this little precision, lol.
Now this is not going to help you with the vote I fear...

I agree - even when I manage to lay down my basic votes in one session, winvote
is invaluable for showing up inconsistencies and cross-contamination.

I tend to avoid sorting by total vote until the last moment, and will sort by
the individual catagories and tweak my votes until the order seems right for the
catagories.

Winvote is certainly a big help here - my personal voting rules are:

Artistic - based on composition and aesthetics, make a strong effort to ignore
the technical qualities of the image.

Technical - very hard to get right, but good images without explanation of
technique get a baseline 10. If I get the artistic score right, then I don't
feel too bad about giving pleasent but technically simplistic images a low
score.

Concept - 1-9 means off-topic of varying degrees, and such a score will affect
the images other scores (1 means that I reduce the other scores to 10% of what I
would otherwise have given, 2 to 20% etc.). 10 means on-topic, but not really
saying anything interesting about the topic, 20 would mean a highly original
interpretation. Scores of 10 or higher mean no adjustment to the scores in the
other catagories.

Keeping artistic and concept votes separate is hard - I try to do this by
thinking of the concept as being a written description of the image, which can
include artistic attributes, and the artistic vote referring to the execution.

I have a hard time calling something off topic if it was made specifically
for the competition. If someone sits down to make a landscape and ends up
with a bunch of brown squares on a blue background, then I'll accept it as
on topic. Of course, when someone sends in a picture of an ogre or a dragon
mask, then they should certainly get a one.
