  2 submissions etiquette (Message 1 to 5 of 5)

What is the etiquette for submitting two (or more) entries to the comp.?

I have two projects I'm working on for worship, very different in terms of
content and style, but don't want to put people's backs up, and the
guidelines seem to discourage this.

Also, if it is considered acceptable, how do you get around the issue of
voting on your own pics and the other problematic areas (same name and email
address etc.).

Thanks.

It won't affect the way the voting works, it will automatically accept
multiple images by the same person as far as I know.

I think it's fine to submit two images (I don't consider it a problem unless
someone has just entered in the same scene from different angles, for
example), the major drawback for most people is that in making two images
you halve your development time on each image, so to speak.

Right. This has figured into the voting for me, and from the comments it
appears a few others as well. If you enter two images, and they suffer
from problems that could have been fixed by throwing more time at the
image, we already know you *had* the time. If (for example) one of them
isn't anti-aliased, that'll result in a lower technical score (at least
from me; and you don't have to worry about my vote this round :*) than
if you had only submitted one image.

If they are different, I don't see a problem. Of course, I try not to look at
the name of the submitter when making votes. I will take note of the name when
commenting, especially if the piece is tied to earlier work by that person.
And of course, some people have a unique style that is easy to spot: Gilles
Tran, Mick Hazel Grove, HE Day, and John VanSickle (well, because of Rusty) are
easy to spot, and I try not to let it effect my votes, since I think they are
all great artists of the medium.

If you're on a roll, go for it. Makes up for the times when creatively nothing
seems to 'come'. And I always take the attitude that there is more to the
'contest' than the 'contest'. It is a forum for showing and getting reactions
that is a record of sorts. As far as voting goes, I find I am personally able to
treat each of multiple entries as an image in its own right. And wouldn't
completing two entries and having them both place in say, the top ten, be a
significant vote of approval?

I believe I have noticed, looking back through previous rounds, that some of
the contest's greatest luminaries have sometimes made multiple entries.

But an ancilliary question comes to mind: what if two or more images are meant
to be complementary, each taking its meaning from the other? This might give me
a problem when voting. But what if two files were asked to be treated a single
entry? Do the rules specifically preclude this?
