I am trying to install povray 64bit for windows XP I get the error message "
This installation is not supported by this processor. Contact your product
vendor."
I get the same message when trying to install it for Vista as well. Anyone know
how to fix this? Or had a similar problem?

You do not have a 64 bit Windows installed, so you cannot run 64 bit
applications. You must use the 32 bit version on a 32 bit operating system!

What processor do you have, and exactly what edition of XP and Vista,
respectively?

What processor are you using, is it a 64 bits processor?
Are you using Windows XP 64bits edition?
Same question about the Vista version used? They both come in 32 and 64
bits versions.
If you have a 32 bits processor, you need the 32 bits version.
Even if you have a 64 bits processor, if you have a 32 bits OS, you cant
take advantage of the full potential of your CPU as it will be forced to
work in the 32 bits emulation mode.
A 32 bits OS can never run a 64 bits application, ever. There is no
workaround.
Your options:
Use POV-Ray 32 bits.
OR
Install the 64 bits version of your OS.
