POV-Ray: Newsgroups: povray.windows: backend thread failed

According to the change log for 3.6.1 this problem was supposed to be fixed.
I am working with 3.6.1c for windows32 and I am still getting the message

Can you give me any clue as to what might be going on? It had been working fine
and then suddenly I started getting this message and I cannot get it to start.
