Is there a way to select a large piece of text in the editor (*many*
pages at once)? To use some of my macros, I often have to edit large meshes
(for example to remove the UV info), and doing so by scrolling the text with
the mouse is really slow and unconfortable. I would like to be able to put a
kind of mark at the position of the cursor, then go to the bottom of the
part to be selected (e.g. using the scrollbar on the right - this is
quick), and then have all the text between there and the mark be selected. I
have not found this in the docs, so I wonder if there is a way to do it (or
something similar).
Thank you for your help
Thibaut

Here are a couple of keystrokes that I use very frequently. If you place your cursor
in the text and hist CTRL + SHIFT + END, it will select everything from the cursor to
the end of the document.
CTRL + SHIFT + HOME will select everything to the beginning of the document. You can
then continue to hold SHIFT and use your arrow keys to narrow down the selection, if
you need to.
I hope this helps!

Or you can select the first line of required text then use the mouse to drag
the scroll bar to the end of the required text. Hold down the shift key and
click the end of the text and it will be selected.

In general (and in all text editors), any movement of the cursor in
conjunction with shift will select text.
So for example you press 'end' to go to the end of the line: If you
press shift at the same time, it will also select from the cursor's
current position to the end of the line.
If you press ctrl+end it will go to the end of the file. Likewise,
if you press shift at the same time, it will select.
Likewise with all other cursor movements, such as ctrl+right (will
go one word to the right), page down, etc.

Thank you everyone for all the answers. I did not know about this SHIFT
behaviour, and it solves (more or less *) my problem !
Thibaut
(*) not 100% perfect yet, as the best way to find the end of the part I want
to select is to use a "find", but this loses the original selected line.

outline view. Go to the beginning of the text you want to select. Demote it
(Alt + Shift + Right), find the end of the text plus one line and Promote
that (Alt + Shift + Left). Go back to the beginning of the text you want to
select and click the + sign and your text will be selected.
