I am new toPOV-ray. I can use 3D Studio Max R4 but, I have not seen
anything like this. I am interested in learning how to use this program and
do not know where to begin. Can anyone tell me or point me in the right
direction but, considering that I am a beginner at this ware....
I would be thank full for your comments and suggestions...

First, consider asking in povray.newusers. You're likely to get more warm
bodies over there.
Second, a good place to start is with the extensive list of tutorial links
at http://www.povray.org/links/3D_Tutorials/POV-Ray_Tutorials/
Or, of course, you can just go through the tutorial in the first half of the
manual and ask the helpful folk in povray.newusers any questions that might
pop up.

If you come from 3DStudio R4, you will find Moray very familiar and will
help you use and understand povray.
( I had to do it that way, and today Moray is my favourite modeller for
Povray).
Even though it's shareware, it's completely functional till the day you'll
decide to
register (that's something important to keep this great program evolving in
the future).

I second that - the help files are extremely good, although you could always
make your models in MAX and then export to something like 3DS, then use a
converter to get them to pov
