when I double click a pov scene file on my desktop (or where ever), mega
pov starts, but it won't open the scene file. Any ideas??

Is it a path with spaces? As in C:\Path to Scenes\File.pov? And does a
error say something about INI or DEF? If you have MegaPov set to render on
file opening anyway.
Version 0.7 does likewise if so.

Wasn't it Paul Jones who wrote:

Check your file associations for "POV-Ray Scene File". I'm using W98se,
and this works for me:
"C:\Program Files\POV-Ray\BIN\MEGAPOV.EXE" /EDIT "%1"
I'd guess that you're missing the /EDIT and/or the "%1". (The location
of MEGAPOV.EXE may be in a different location of your machine, but
that's OK).
Under W98 you set the file associations by using Start => Settings =>
Folder Options => File Types.

How many files are already open in the editor? POV will only open a limited
number of files, and if you double-click on a file when the limit has been
reached, POV will behave exactly as you describe.

I've had a lot of files open at one time and never had it refuse to
open another. Though I did run out of memory once trying to open too
many large mesh bearing files at one time...

I have my scene file in C:\ My Documents\*.pov and I have no problem using
the auto open.

I just checked this. In version 3.1e, I was able to open 32 files. I then
tried creating a new file, and got the message "Maximum number of editing
sessions reached". Likewise, when opening a 33rd file from within POV, I
got that message.

Satisfies my curiosity :)
