I recall there was a mathematician (Conway? Gardner?) whose final year
project (what's the name?) was titled "Optimal Packing of Equisized
Spheres In Up To 23 Dimensions" or similar. Gee...

I bet it's real useful in cramped spaces...
Does he say how I can get my spheres back from the 23rd dimension?

Polly? Gone? Oh no. Perhaps it was the text you're always
reading out loud to her: How to Be Coordinated. If only Ray
would scale her a few fish, I think she might come back to
her origins.

What we're looking for: destinations.
What we end up getting: journeys.

It was really Ray's fault that she rotated out of his life. He was often
making specular investments in often diffuse markets and they didn't always
translate into the kind of security she needed. It was always thought he
had a brilliant career ahead of him but instead it was dull and intersected
with strife.

Please go on, it's getting interesting and I have a hard time going to
bed. I hope that by the time I get married and have a kid there'll
already be a dozen or so story collections about Ray and Poly (and
Tracy?) available on povray.org :)
