Does anyone out there know how to change the default output directory? I
tried searching the registry but no luck.

The images directory is set in the povray.ini file, which is in the renderer
sub directory.

Inside the tool menu up the editor you'll see an "Edit povray.ini"
entry. Once inside look for a line beginning by Output_File_Name = (a path).
Replace that path by whatever you like better.
