Quoting the original post on this topic:

So they were either mini bugs or feature adjustments; in any case, they probably
weren't worth another binary release. I was just curious what version number
this source code might have internally.

>I think you are refering to the preliminary source he posted for testing, aren't you?

Yes and no. The quoted post referred to the original preliminary source, yes.
The changes must have remained in the second preliminary source, since the only
changes between the two versions were:

(1) removal of some intel-specific fault-trapping code in pvengine.c
(2) removal of some (POV-code) comments in pvdemo.h
(3) modification of optout.h to make it an unofficial release
(4) a missing backslash was added to pvlegal.h
(5) Some changes to the readme to answer some legal-type questions I
asked during the first trial run

None of these affect a binary version of POV in any significant way, except
perhaps #4. None of them affect non-windows code.

The final release (if there has been one; it has never been officially
announced, though it's available in the Official directory) is
byte-for-byte identical to the second preliminary release. (It doesn't
even include the VC6 makefiles I contributed. :( )
