Recently POV-Ray crashed will I was trying to render a
scene. So,
I restarted the computer and loaded POV-Ray again, and when
I tryed
to run the demo (to see if it was becuase of the scene), but
it still crashed.
    The Messages screen gets to:
        Redirecting Options
            ...
            ...
            Warning Stream to console.......On
then a dialog comes up with the title Pvengine, and
reads:
This program has performed an illegal operation
        and will be shut down.

If the problem persists, contact the program
        vendor.
    fallowed by a textbox with:
PVENGINE caused a stack fault in module <unknown> at
0000:00000003.

        00000000

Next, I reinstalled POV-Ray with the newest version
(which was only 3.02, and I had 3.01 [or something like
that]). This also failed.
I really enjoyed the program, so this is very
disappointing,
I hope you can help.

K.Tyler,
Under "Render" in the menu bar you will find a
"Run Demo", that is what I was talking about.
POV-Ray crashes on any file I render. The reason I
used the demo was because it should work, (it was
made to be rendered with the program).

The only good politician is a dead politician !!
Politics or religion = corruption and true evil.
Believe 1% of what you see or hear.
The laws that politicians make are mostly bad laws,
we'd do far better without them - the politicians AND their laws.

I am sure that it is not the fault of scene, because it
crashes rendering any scene. If there is a problem,
syntax error or if I try to render a blank page, it still
crashes - but with an 'invalid page fault'. Can anyone
help me, or tell me where I can find help. I would really
like to get back to Ray-tracing.

You really need to run it under a debugger to see where
in the code the error occurs, I think.

I am just about ready to try anything (even
install the DOS version), so if you could tell me
where to find a debugger to use, I would be
very appriciative.

Try doing a full uninstall, then install beta 6 from

  ftp://ftp.povray.org/pub/povray/beta/beta3.1-6/povwin31.exe

Thank you so much! It worked! Plus,
I really like the new interface (although
it kinda looks like MicroSoft IE).
