Anyone know what the "usual" time for a glass UDO object to render with
photons?  2 days, 3 days, a week, a month?

Minutes to hours depending on the number of facets, the amount of
reflection, the number of photons you shoot at it, and how many
light sources are present in the scene that are allowed to shoot
photons at the object in question. There are really too many
variables to give you an accurate answer.

p.s. the ior value will also affect the render time when photons are
used.

More to the point, POV doesn't have something called a "UDO" object.  That's
a Moray thing, and tells us nothing about what the object actually is.  It
could be a sphere, for all we know.

it is a mesh of a diamond...  (9 diamonds to be exact) with AA, Jitter, 5x5 area
light, and a plane.  i think i posted the code in the binary.scene-file
group....  look for diamond lockup or something like that
