In UVPOV meshes are treated as solid objects when it comes to CSG. Why
can't then a mesh be used as a bounding object? I was trying to speed
up my brandy glass code and I encountered this phenomenon. Is this
easy to fix? This could be useful.

I don't know the answer right now, but I will look into it. Really, I don't
know why a mesh couldn't be used for bounding anyway. I could understand if
it gave a warning, but not an error.
