OK, it may sound a little bit weird,
but did anyone ever run POV-Ray on a Silicon Graphics?
I am working on a rather big project an I need every capcity I can get.
My SGI Octane and my dual-cpu Challenge-DM-server are not POV-infected
yet:-))

Yes.
But to compile POV-Ray 3.5 under the IRIX system, you will have
to modify several Makefiles or wait for the source relase of POV-Ray 3.6
for UNIX.

Unfortunately, don't expect SGI machines to help in getting
POV-Ray extremely virulent ;-) i.e. the MIPS architectures are
not particularly faster (and usually much slower) than a not-so-old
PC running for instance Linux.

I agree with Dr. Calimet but if you want to give it a try:

-- no warranties of any kind of course.

Hi Lothar,

Errr thanks, but you give me a title that I don't have (yet).
Any such online information is wrong, unfortunately...

It seems your binary works well, which is not surprising
given its dependencies. Did you compile it using the Mips Pro
C++ compiler, and if so, did you happen to have any particular
problems to solve ?
Well, I'm asking, but in principle things will get much
easier with povray-3.6 :-)

Oh, I see, the help header writes:
Persistence of Vision(tm) Ray Tracer Version 3.5 Unix (gcc@mips-sgi-irix6.5)
Hmmm, seems that you actually used the ancestor of the configure
script that will ship with POV-Ray 3.6 ;-)

If you used the vanilla 3.5 source and built a 64bit executable you
should not try to render a radiosity scene with it...

Ah ? What's wrong with it ?

I thought you'd know (since you implemented the C99_COMPATIBLE_RADIOSITY
option in the 3.6 configure script):

Yeah, but some of my 1-bit registers are filled with other
problems to solve right now ;-)
