When I run Linux povray, it gives me:

INI file error.
'=' or '#' must be preceded by a keyword

Whatever is in the ini file. 

Any ideas?

I use INI files all the time, and I'm not having this problem.  Can you
send me an example INI file? Also, what version of POV-Ray and what
Linux distribution are you running?
