Hi folks!

Does anyone know a tool with what POV geometry can be converted to 3D-CAD
formats that can be read by Solid Works or Inventor, such as SAT, STP, IGS
or the like? Also the other way around would be interesting.

Hope to get a lot of answers soon!

Volker

In general, POV geometry cannot be currently converted to anything else.

If the POV scene consists exclusively of triangle meshes (and has no
SDL scripting) then there may be some program out there which attempts
to make a conversion, but I'm not sure about the quality.

If nothing else, you can always use POV's file writing ability, along with
POV scripts that generate your own trianges (fun fun), and then output them
in some raw-ish format that could be understood by CAD apps or converters.
I think somebody (or people) on here had some macros which used the trace
function to generate meshes. I'm guessing using POV itself to convert a
limited amount of stuff is more work for less than you had in mind, but
some at least some things are possible.

Thank you for your quick answers, both of you. Hope it weren't the last ones
;-) I'll keep on monitoring the newsgroup...
