Well...bicubic-patch doesnt seem to be the one for this...
how can I define a random 3D shape... it will be bounded by
flat polygons... and then do a bezier type rounding, to make
it smooth rather than flat sided ?

  Why not? It sounds exactly what bicubic patches are for.
