I REALLY would like to know how to create curved "horns". I am thinking
of a series of either cones or torii slices... has anyone done this
before/have any suggestions?

Hi,
Recently I've written a small VBA-macro for Excel 7.0, which allows me
to create nearly any surface made out of triangle_meshes, as long as it
can be described by an mathematical formula; of course this is also true
for curved "horns".
Otherwise the job may be done by a bezier_patch-modeller called
"spatch". You will find it there:
http://www.aimnet.com/~clifton/spatch.html
So long,

I would recommend using sPatch (see the other post) or the object bender
include file at http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Lakes/1434/bend.html

Sphere sweep may be good for curved horns.
See http://www.informatik.uni-bremen.de/~vader/raytracing.html for info

Hi,
a very cool site and interesting stuff on sphere_sweeps. It's a pity,
that there isn't an already compiled version for windows(95). I did
write a mail to J.Lippert and he did anwer that he has'nt found time
yet, to do this. Does anyone know, where that could be available?

Actually, there is a compiled version on my website. It has more functions
to boot, including new texture patterns, text alignment, and trimmable
rational beziers.
Check it out:

Heh, well I grabbed it. <G>
It'll probably take me forever to get the hang of your mods though. :(

apologies for posting to an old thread but I couldn't resist this.
THE programme for making *curved horns* just absolutely has to be:
Rhino3d!
at http://www.rhino3d.com
outputs to .pov, .inc and .rib (for BMRT)
enjoy

heh, well since it's still in free beta, yes. Truespace does it just as
good, though. I wish they'd output to Pov, too.

This is probably too late but I once did just that. See attachment.
