Mystery solved! It was all my silly fault. Sorry! :)
I've just started using a dialup download accelerator with my ISP. I didn't
realize it had the option to downgrade image quality for further speed. I
wonder if it's only Jpegs, or if it converts PNGs too?

As mentioned earlier, there is a blocks scene in the advanced folder, but
its not the same thing.
I've just been playing with the blocks.inc that Dave UL'ed. I noticed it
uses the pre 3.5 syntax (no semicolons at the end of declares). I also
noticed a few minor bugs.
Maybe John VanSickle designed it with a different font to the one I have,
but some of the letters (eg 'I' & 'J')are not centered correctly in the x
direction. Also 'W' is too wide to fit properly, and actually extends past
the edge of the block!
I've been working on an updated version. It's mostly done, but some other
letters could do with fine tuning.
The new version also uses other modern features: local variables, macros and
arrays for easier access.
I've also written some simple text formatting macros to work with these
blocks.
Anyone interested?
