Just wondering if there are any people out there who know about
programming truetype fonts, especially with FreeType, and who might want
to help out a great open-source project.

The Gimp ( http://www.gimp.org/ ) is currently depending on the X server
to get its fonts. It came up in the developer's mailing list, and I
think the gist of the response was that yes it is not the best thing,
but someone would need to do the work to switch things over.

So, I'm mentioning this here just in case there is someone who might
like to help out.
