Hi,
I might have missed that but I wonder what is taking so long
for the POV Team to come up with version 3.1 for UNIX ?
Do we Intel *and* Apple - challenged have to wait much longer ?
Cheers,

The POV-Ray team does not usually give any specific release dates, there is not more
to say - the work is in progress.
Thorsten
PS: Why don't you try one of the unofficial versions for now if you absolutely need a
unix version *now*?

But given that Ron Parker and others have been able to compile
the DOS source with so little difficulty on the UNIX system,
it appears that the POV team is trying to do more than this.
But what?
All I can think of is GUI development. But the beauty of UNIX
is you don't need a fancy GUI. My UNIX installation doesn't
even use the X code -- you really don't need it.
I think if one polled UNIX users, they'd much rather have the
official source sooner than wait around for GUI code they likely
won't need anyway.

True, i use xemacs for writting scenes and I will use it in the future
too,
so, for me, any GUI integrated in POV will be only time and memory
consuming.
And X routine for displaying result image can be the same as in 3.0
version.
