afaik, the editor is a licensed 3rd party product, alluded to in this thread:

Where clipka states:
"Our version of the proprietary 3rd party CodeMax library has remained
virtually unchanged from POV-Ray v3.6 (except for bug fixes), so you can
use the CodeMax source code from the POV-Ray v3.6 package as a starting
point for your development."

heh, glad you actually (re)read it all and posted the quote.  I only remembered
that the licensing had been mentioned (because it surprised me).  a quick
google, and a cursory check that I had the correct thread, was all I did.
