Maybe POV4 could include a kind of pluggable script within the engine that would
allow people to implement different stuff (shading models, cartoon rendering,
etc, etc, (yes - ambient occlusion(!)!)!).
Simple as using POV->Trace->Output*result.
final_pixel_color = 0.5;
final_pixel_color = "whatever it should have been";
x and y being derived from the camera & look_at etc.
