Zazzle allows you to create/sell a coffee mug with an image wrapped around it.
What would be the coolest or best way to create an image, to make use of the
cylindrical geometry?

I took a panoramic projection photo of an outdoor scene, printed it out, and
wrapped it around a cylinder.  I then realized how it might have made sense if
we decorated the insides of coffee mugs. And stood inside them.

I also played around with povray.  I took some human figures, and had them all
face in the same direction, but then placed them around a circle, and took a
cylindrical camera rendering from the center of the circle.  I get a mug where
from the front you see the person's front, from side you see the side, and back
the back.  Somehow I"m wondering if I've got the imagery a bit wrong too, if I
need to to some inversions or reflections to get it to look like you're really
seeing the person on the side.

Anyone ever play around with this concept?  (Smartphone camera) photo tricks or
povray?
