Do you simply read it like it's spelled "povray", or are you supposed to
spell out each letter "pee oh vee ray"?

I never gave it a thought and always assumed it was simply 'povray'. In
the other case, I /think/ the original authors would have used slightly
different graphics like P.O.V.-Ray, although the dots would have been
rapidly left out.

That's how I pronounce it-- as I never knew *how* it was supposed to be
verbalized, when I first started using it. "POV" -ray always sounded kind of
strange to me.

I don't pronounce the P**-*** word... Being french I'm ashamed by its "cheap"
and "simpleton" unwanted meanings and also how 90es-ish it sounds to explicitly
call it a raytracer. I would appreciate it to be renamed "Persistence" only.
until then I refer to it as "the renderer that I [...]"
