Powerful ... unfortunately I'm not sure we'll ever learn. We crazy
humans have been hurting and killing each other quite awhile now and it
seems to be getting worse. As a young man I witnessed things that I
still have bad dreams about and as an old man I mostly try not to pay
attention to the state of things today because it brings a tear to my eyes.

I assume you refer to the unpleasantness in Indo-China. My personal
experience was in Angola - and no, I still refuse to talk about it.

That's how I interpret/react to a call to "Be human" by plaintiffs: No,
you do want to actually see more humanity. I prefer to be childish, or
animal.

Don't bother too much, and I typoed: "you do *not* want"

I have heard many horror stories from the Angola. I was called up for
military service after the Angolan war. If I was older, things might have
been a bit different for me.

I'm guessing that you are younger than James, Thomas, Stephen and me.
[BTW this is not a criticism of you]
... but some of us have experienced so much sh*t ... and now words fail me.

No problem, but I'm not that young any more. I could have served my
military time while Thatcher was still in place. Just delayed it for a
bit of study (and my country is the other side of the channel).
Previously, in centuries rather in years, crusade-fighters would turn to
monastery and become monks. I believe a part of the cause was the same
lack of words.
A bit of Shakespeare (Macbeth): "it is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing."
Be kind to your neighbours, and do not try to rule further than your
doorstep.
