OK ... cruising job postings and came upon something of interest. 
Clicked on it and in the detail I noticed a "handwritten" cover letter 
requirement (btw handwritten was in bold/italics). So I take to pen and 
paper then scanned it and included it with my application. Holy crap ... 
In my email this morning a reply that stated ... out of over 200 
applicants I was the /only/ one that followed instructions, and they 
want to talk to me. Now I'm wondering if I should apply ... LOL is the 
going to be a job where I shut up and do as I'm told. Hey they're all 
(jobs) like that right .... Man oh man!

Go for it. You might miss the opportunity of a lifetime. You don't
necessarily have to accept if you do get offered it.

yep ... you're probably right. got to hand it to them tho ... fairly 
creative way to screen applicants

Yep, an excellent way of doing two things at once: Can the applicant
follow instructions and can the applicant put together a document
without the use of a spell-checker?

Well done getting past the first hurdle. And yes, it's back to the 
grindstone for you. :-P
As for "shutting up and doing what your told", you never know. You might 
be telling other people what to do.

Or maybe it is something like Paul Anderson's "Time Patrol". Where the 
hero went for an interview after answering something he saw in the small 
adds section of his newspaper. Great things?

well it's technical writing (field service manuals) for an local unnamed 
electronics firm ... from what I know of the area it will most likely be 
automotive related

And, does the applicant really want to work here, or have they just 
clicked "send" on 30 adverts in the last 15 minutes.
