Jim, did you not not say in the last game of MC that you missed a good
Holy War? Looks like two came along at once :-D

Anyhow ... Now that Xmas and New Year is over, we count the cost.
I have just received my energy bills for the last quarter. In spite of
reducing my household consumption by following the advice offered by HM
Government, my bill is up by 20%.
The Feegle is going to a new school which requires the purchase of a
uniform (they didn't have one in his last one).
... and there appear to be two three bills realting to something called
Visa, Amex and MasterCard.
Oh, woe is me!

John (tightening his belt)

Hehehehehehe.

Ouch. We have a thing here called "budget billing," which takes the
average consumption over a year and spreads the cost out - they adjust it
annually, as I recall, but that helps us not see a cost spike in the
winter.

I feel that pain - well, not the uniform, but the belt tightening. We
are still trying to sell our house, and if we do, we'll get to pay
everything off that we owe on and have some money left over (enough for
about a year's worth of rent where we want to move to, moving expenses,
last year's taxes, and a few other things). But we need to shift it in
the next month or two.

And one of those cards we've been using to help get us through the belt
tightening just turned up to be at its limit. :/

We have something similar here but it tends to over estimate your
consumption (or has done in the past) so I prefer to get stung only half
the time.

I'm not at my limits yet but it's getting close.

Of course , Stephen is horrifically rich and is at this moment heading
for St Pancras International, so ...:

Green Park

Yeah, I'm actually surprised the last charge that went over the limit
wasn't declined, that's what's supposed to happen.

It's been 3 years since the layoff, and while we've been mostly treading
water, there have been some unexpected expenses (had to buy a new tire
last week because we ended up with nails in two, and one couldn't be
repaired).

Nice move. You know, I've been thinking about a project, actually -
transcriptions of all games from the show that there are recordings of
(or that I have recordings of), map them out, and run some statistics on
what's popular, what moves are popular, and what rules are invoked at
what times.

Elephant & Castle, just for some variety. :)

I get mood swings. Sometimes it's way over and occasionally a bit under.
I have never seen a meter reader since I moved here 18 months ago. When
I get my bill I phone in the correct readings.
I wonder who wrote the Disneyware that the Utility companies are using
for software.

When I was made redundant from the Oil Industry I paid off my cards and
always pay the full amount every month. If I let it slip, I know what
would happen.
Having said those words of wisdom. I am spending between 400 & 600 GBP
per week just on flights and hotels. And there is a lot of juggling
between accounts to keep limits in check.

No! It is St Pancras International on Monday. (Trains don't fall out of

Now there is a thing. On Thursday, I was offered a job at the Elephant,
without an interview if I could start on Monday. I had interviewed for a
similar job in November and did not get it. Nice to be asked but I have
organise a UAT the week after next.

Another festive theme is funny animals so. Oft we go to Catford.

Mickey did, obviously. ;)

Yeah, sometimes the budget calculations are off a bit, hence the annual
adjustment. But we don't see meter readers come around any more either,
at least not that I've seen.

Yep, that's our plan as well.

I guess that's something you pay for and get reimbursed for? One of the
fun parts of being self-employed.

Interesting.... UAT?

Oooh, nice move. I'll be interested to see what John does in response to
that. :)

I guess that was rather obvious, wasn't it? ;)

So now if Stephen is dropping out, I guess that makes it my turn again,
doesn't it?

Fenchurch. By air, naturally.

Nicely spotted. :)

Google not required - very nicely done. :)

Except for the typo, of course.

Continuing the theme, Cambridge Station.

What's legality got to do with anything? I could have got on the wrong

That's what I was thinking. But also if he got on the wrong train and
then changed, the only way that works is if he changed trains without
arriving at a station. Tricky to do, especially when you've said you
made the change at a station.

Archway. I'm still keeping with the H2G2 theme, in a manner of speaking.

Don't know what you're talking about.
I thought I liked him until I tried re-reading some of the ones I had
liked. Very hard going and it seemed a bit laboured. Not surprising

The Snodgrass ruling is a very narrow ruling, and doesn't apply when
either Vroomfondel's or Majikthize's rules are in effect. I'm surprised
you didn't know that.

Well, the gaps were filled, however it seems that Stephen has oddly
crossed the diagonal, a move of questionable legality at best, and tried
to do a runner.
