In the words of Pink Floyd on The Division Bell:
"There's a silence surrounding me I can't seem to think straight
I'll sit in the corner
No one can bother me
I think I should speak now (Why won't you talk to me)
I can't seem to speak now (You never talk to me)
My words won't come out right (What are you thinking)
I feel like I'm drowning (What are you feeling)
I'm feeling weak now (Why won't you talk to me) But I can't show my
weakness (You never talk to me)
I sometimes wonder (What are you thinking)
Where do we go from here (What are you feeling)
It doesn't have to be like this
All we need to do is make sure we keep talking (Why won't you talk to me)
I feel like I'm drowning (You never talk to me)
You know I can't breathe now (What are you thinking)
We're going nowhere (What are you feeling)
We're going nowhere (Why won't you talk to me)
(You never talk to me) (What are you thinking) (Where do we go from here)
It doesn't have to be like this
All we need to do is make sure we keep talking"
... I don't mean send a text. Face to face is the only way.

Bummer!
About thirty years ago, someone ran out in front of me on an empty dual
carriageway. I swerved and just clipped him but as I was doing about 50 mph when
I saw him, it was more than a scratch. I kept reliving it every night for about
a week. Even now I occasionally get flashbacks.
As I said, bummer all round. :-(

Indeed, mate, indeed.
Now I'm going to put a smile on my face by picking up the Feegle from
the nursery school and teaching him how to ride his new bike.

That's the way. Take your mind off it. And keep it off it.

Indeed so, and find it a little special place in remembrance.

Thanks to all those who replied with sympathetic messages and advice.
I am calling a halt to this thread mainly because I think its better
that I push the subject to the back of my mind
BTW The Feegle enjoyed his bike lesson, especially the part where I
stepped into a deep muddy puddle.

I can't say anything about this without sounding like a completely
insensitive jerk, which is quite frustrating.

Yep. Of course, she may well have been talking to someone, too.

That sounds like a good idea.
