Caffeine
If you skip a whole night
for some doodle to write – caffeine.
If you're living in fear
'cause the deadline is near – caffeine.
In your veins, in your brains, in your stains: caffeine.
If you mess up your code
with some new class for »float« – caffeine.
If you think it is time
for a smoother design – caffeine.
C++, PHP, Javascript: caffeine.
If you render some stuff
and all you got is POV – caffeine.
If you give it a try
and then find you are high – caffeine.
Ambient light, cubic spline, checkered plane: caffeine.
(weird chiptune solo)
Caffeine! Caffeine! Caffeine! Caffeine! Caffeine!
Caffeine! Caffeine! Caffeine! Caffeine! Caffeine!
Caffeine! Caffeine! Caffeine! Caffeine! Caffeine!
Caffeine! Caffeine! Caffeine! Caffeine! Caffeine!
(fade-out)

I think I once wrote how caffeine seems to have no discernible effect on
me at all. But then, I'm just weird...

Small amounts of it may not have. The negative effects may need for you
to consume it daily for a significant period of time (days, weeks...)
and then stop before you may start noticing the effects (often
headaches.)
It can be hard to distinguish between just a random headache that you
have because, and a headache caused by caffeine withdrawal.

Aren't we all?
Corollary:
I'm normal
You're eccentric
He's weird

Bring them on!
The first one, in the morning, with sugar.
Have you noticed the vending machine coffee is getting better?

It's extremely rare for me to have a headache. And even when I do,
caffeine seems to have no effect on it.
I do vaguely recall when I was fairly young, I once drank an entire
bottle of cola and couldn't sleep all night...

It's a vicious cycle. The more you drink it, the more you need it.

Yep, every once in a while (usually at summer) I stop drinking coffee
and cola for a while just to give my body time to get off the hook. It
really works for me - I can drink 3-5 mugs of coffee at work, but I can
also manage without even a cup without a headache or anything.

Compared to what?
BTW The Jack Horner is closing for refurbishment for 10 days from
14/10/13. Hope the result is not the pub equivalent of W*****s 8.

I will report the results here. I might even get pictures.
Incidentally, I now have my own personal glass behind the bar. It was
presented to me by an outgoing manager.

You are working in the wrong places, then. Most of the machines where I
work use real ground coffee. And have done for yonks.

That is your mission, if you are willing to accept it.

You have arrived. Next a tankard with a glass bottom. Those 5p pieces
are devilishly hard to see when you are unco fu. ;-)

I'm just fussy. A machine that dispenses pints of Fullers ESB is what
I'm waiting for ;-)

*snaps off a salute* Smoke me a kipper. I'll be back in time for breakfast.

They've already pressed me once. Won't get me again :-)

Unfortunately, I'd have to carry a barrel and hand-pump to dispense it
properly. Don't think that I haven't considered it - especially for some
long and tedious client meetings.
