will need to take in the way of clothing. I know that you are Finnish
and Norway is a different country but you will have a better idea than
anyone else that I know.

Oslo is significantly closer to the Atlantic Ocean than Finland, so I have
no idea how it affects the climate.

From memory of Stockholm, you do not want an extra pair of socks.
You want warm non-slippery boots. Not shoes.
And a pair of casual footwear for indoor in your handbag / backpack.

And a pair or two of warm gloves (two pairs: allow one to dry at home...)

So, if I go there, I won't need to get any new winter coat, boots nor
underweares. It also looks like the summers are also somewhat cooler.

Thank you Tor,
It is a little bit soon to welcome me. I got my contract through and the
start date has been put back from the week before Christmas week to the
2nd or 3rd of January. At least the January sales will have started and
I will be able to buy what I need at better prices.

It never ceases to amaze me how common some words are in European
languages. I would have guessed the meaning of those, having worked on
Dutch projects. But thank you for your foresight.

Thanks for the above, I can see it being handy.

I generally use babelfish to start off with. I do hope that I am given a
PC/Laptop with a English QWERTY keyboard. The last time I used a
Norwegian keyboard my typing speed dropped dramatically.
