So which one do you think is best value for money? :-P

Doesn't Passmark only measure the graphics performance? Or am I thinking of
some other Mark?

Seems to benchmark tons of things, including the CPU.
Maybe you are confusing it with 3DMark?

what is your CPU usage ?
povray : (#core*HT -1)*Speed is best (HT: hyperthreading(2) or not(1))
wordprocessor: a 100MHz should be enough
Not in your equation: the motherboard, and the memory.

And that's where it gets interesting. Gulftown requires triple-channel
memory, and hence all the motherboard for it are *very* expensive. Sandy
Bridge works with normally-priced motherboards.

This is Pass Mark - not to be confused with 3D Mark, Futuremark, PC
Mark, or any of several other benchmark suites with "mark" in the name. ;-)

Cheapest memory kit: 14.01 (2x1GB Kingston DDR3 1333MHz)
Ratio: Gulftown is 97.13% more expensive - in other words, approximately
twice the price - for 1.17% more performance.
N.B.: Intel Core i7 2600 is identical to the 2600K, except that you
cheaper).
