I must say, after picking the fluff out of the graphics card heatsink with
tweesers, the demo for "The Ball" went from shutting down the computer after
3 or 4 minutes to not being able to hear the fan spin. Much better.

I have to vaccuum the inside of my desktop at least 3 or 4 times a year
unless I want to replace various parts of it.
I have removed enough cat hairs from inside the case that I think I'm
legally allowed to say I own two cats.

No. It's just been a while.
I had to open up the machine and pull out the power supply to change the
DVD
drive anyway, so I took the time to actually remove the graphics card.
It has channels for air under a plastic cover that a fan sucks across the
chip, and I couldn't open it well enough to get the plastic cover off, an
d
blowing it just blew the dust bunnies up against the fan, rather than out
past it.
So, basically, the graphics card puts junk in the way of the air flow on
which dust gets caught. Slightly poor design there, but I can understand
it
given the engineering constraints.

You seriously don't need to be a cat owner for the inside of your PC to
get utterly furred up with dust and crap. Trust me. Our lab doesn't have
*any* pets at all in it. It doesn't even have soft furnishings. It's a
lab! And some of the PCs in there contain enough fluff to make a doormat!

True, but cat hair - as hair - can get wound around stuff and make normal
dust problems look worse.
Trust me, we've got 3 cats.
