I would suggest it's the latter.
Also: This is apparently why legal documents don't contain punctuation.
(Yes, I realise that makes no sense at all...)

Oh it makes perfect sense, so that the interpretation is open for debate,
which inevitably leads to a court case whereby more legal-types can make
even more money :-)

Or rather, it makes perfect sense in that if it's open to
interpretation, you can interpret it in whatever way is most beneficial
to you. :-/

I don't know about the UK, but the rule in the USA is that if the contract
is ambiguous, it gets read in a way that goes against the person who wrote
the contract or brought the lawsuit. So, no.
Indeed, I've seen law cases where an extra comment separated two things the
author wanted bound together and cost millions of dollars.

You lost most of your nerd points because of that. I suppose that makes
me the nerdiest person in this news server now.

I think you probably had that already...

The only reason he lost nerd points was because he put in a subject line of
Priorities
instead of a subject line of
Achievement unlocked!

As an aside, you *did* call the young lady since then, right? Suggest
dinner somewhere nice, or a show, or something like that? :-) The
stereotypes about such things are fairly true, ya know.
