There's something sweet about musical instruments you play from the inside.

There's something really awesome about seeing a towering mountain of
steel being controlled by a tiny ant-like creature sitting at the bottom
of it. ;-)

guess how in the name of goodness you might pronounce that?
(He was French, if that helps.)
I only give a hoot because I've found a rather nice recording of the
toccata from his Suite Gothique. It's really quite menacing...

é in french is pronounced like the A in Hate.
The two dots over the e mean you don't combine it with the previous sound
.
Like "cooperate" doesn't start with the same sound as "cooper", so if
english had accents, it would be coöperate. Other than that, keep y
our nose
open and you'll pass credibly.

Um... well... actually, no, it isn't. There is no such phoneme as the
french é in the English language.
There is a /sound/ in the English language that comes close, but it only
seems to appear alongside other sounds - for instance as the /first
part/ of the a in Hate; I guess a French person trying to explain how
"Hate" is pronounced might actually render it as "héite".
So to pronounce "Léon" properly, you'll need to get rid of that "i"-ish
ending of the "Hate-a".

Oh dear... What have I started? ._.
I'm more interested in the surname anyway.

Something like "Bo-Almunn", I suppose; as for the "o" in "Bo", try not
to let it trail off into an "oo"-ish ending if you want to do it properly.

True. That's probably a better way to do it. English has way too many vow
els
that are combinations of sounds sliding about.
