to each his own. I find organ mostly boring too. :)
When I first fell in love with the piano as a child, I found its metallic sound
incredibly futuristic! :D
I also enjoy the harpsichord, at least the flemish ones. Guess I enjoy metallic
percussion.
Of course, the instrument is a just a media to the music. You should give music
a chance.

You're truly unbelievable. Then again, you're not alone in thinking Beethoven
was hard on the ears: Chopin had the exact same opinion. Though he really
enjoyed Mozart music. :)
I'm not all for complexity for complexity's sake, but that movement is truly
mindblowing.

I like classical music, especially a capella ;)

Actually... so do I. ;-)
However, there are a few pieces of organ music which sound really
awesome, which kinda makes up for it. ;-)

Well yeah, there is that too...

I do appreciate some operas and oratorios too. But thankfully, I don't
understand a thing of what those voices are talking about. They still work
beautifully as instruments though.

That may be a blessing ;-)

And you may get the emotion coming through as well.

This comment reminds me of this song by Siegfried Wagner (not a great
performance, but the only video I can find):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V49_GhWzp3w
The title translates to "The Tale of the Big, Fat Pancake" :-) It's one
of the lieder that I really don't mind not being able to understand
(although reading through the lyrics was admittedly rather fun, so maybe
that's my loss).
It also reminds me a bit of Bach's coffee cantata.

Damn. Now I'm going to have to remember where I heard this.
Oh wait... Wasn't this one of the character's themes in Moulin Rouge? It
harmonizes really well with Roxanne (by Police) BION.

I think most music written for an organ needs to be heard performed on an
organ. I don't think a recording can do it justice, any more than a movie of
fireworks is exciting.

I just love it when those bass pipes seem to make the whole place tremble.
I think a deaf person would be able to feel those vibrations :)
