Just looking at the results of that URL, looks like stackoverflow.com
might have something.

Yeah.
"In order to embed a TrueType font in a Postscript document, you will
first need to convert it to a Type 42 font. [...] Embedding Type 1 fonts
is a lot easier."
Uh-huh, that's real helpful.

Then try the link at clemson.edu. I didn't follow the links, I figured
you could probably manage that and find a result that helped you
accomplish your goal.

Also not relevant. It merely describes how to get TeX to embed Type 1
fonts in the documents it generates - not how to do so manually, by hand.

I've just about given up on this goal. It is apparently way too hard.
All I really wanted was to put the TeX Computer Modern fonts into a
PostScript file. But I have since decided to use Courier anyway...

Seems to me that if the fonts you want from TeX can be embedded in a
Postscript file, that you could generate such a document, follow the
procedure, and then look at the resulting PostScript file to see how it
was done. <shrug>

Heh. I'm guessing it's a tad complex. ;-) But sure, if I can work out
how to get PostScript from TeX, I could maybe do it that way. (I've
never tried to make TeX output to PS before.)

It might be - you'll never know until you try. ;-)

The latter can't be too difficult. Doxygen, for instance, generates
PostScript and PDF output via a LaTeX interim step, and it didn't look
too complicated to me.
