You know what might be cool?
If Steam could let me play level 1 of Crysis Warhead while it's still
downloading levels 15 though 25...

I'm looking forward for the day when models, textures, AI and other will
be all streamed on-demand through the network in a game you own the
license to. Kinda like Google Earth, except with far better graphics...
:) or perhaps it's the contrary and Google will be the one to finally
show how it should be done? :D

Well, this is what Steam does - just not in real-time. Once you have a
Steam account and you purchase a game, you can install it on any PC,
anywhere. Just log in to your Steam account and start downloading.
Of course, Internet speeds will have to increase by orders of magnitude
before you can play a game instantly. (Crysis Warhead is a 5GB download!)
The other thing is... currently it takes about 3 minutes to connect to a
TF2 server. And I already *have* all the maps, textures, etc. on my PC.
I have no idea why the hell it takes so long...

Heh. I'm just waiting for Google Earth to go 3D. I mean, they already
have crude 3D models of a few buildings. But what if there were some
satelate technology that allowed the Earth's surface to be scanned in
true 3D? Not just the bits people bothered to model, but the whole Earth
in 3D?
Then again, I'm still waiting for higher-resolution images of the south
pole and the seabed...

You do know it displays true 3D texture mapped surfaces like mountain
ranges, right? Like, go to Grand Canyon to see it. There's also a
"flying mode" which makes it for quite a nice flying simulator. (CTRL+G
or something like that)
It'd only be better if the graphics were up to Crysis... :)

All you need to do is fly a plane around taking pictures for a day, and then
let the computer crunch on it a while.

Huh? There are only 7 levels...
Unless Steam provides the game in blocks that is... ?

Sure, it works for geological features. Doesn't work so well for
man-made structures.

Well, given that the game hasn't finished downloading yet, I didn't know
that. :-P

Well, let's see, that's 3 crashes so far. I wonder how many more times
this game is going to crash? Seriously, this makes MS Word look
reliable. :-P
