You know, in all the time I've been posting here, I've never had someone
send me an email inappropriately, or even at all, IIRC. I certainly get less
than one personal email a year from people here.
No need to obscure your email addresses.

Perhaps you need to insult more people. If you're feeling left out I
could act enraged and send you a poorly-worded screed via email.

Heh heh heh. I was vocal enough to get Thorsten to yell at me at least a
couple of times. Isn't that enough?
(I'm pretty sure I piss off Warp, too, more often than I actually intend to. :-)

I believe newsgroups is for flames and email for spam, nude women shots and bad
jokes.

I think that's silly. If you don't want to be emailed, don't display
your email address on the newsgroups.

I only do it to throw the spam bots. I don't care if anyone here e-mails
me, so long as they're not trying to sell fake rolex watches, or v1@gra
or Çia/1s or some such...

Funny thing is, in all the time I've been posting here, I've also never
had someone send me an e-mail inappropriately or at all. ;-)
I use a fake e-mail address myself because I don't want the spammers
picking up my address and dumping more crap in my spam folder.
(Which I'm sure might be what you're angling for, so happy to oblige if
that's the case <g>).

Of course. I ws just noticing how many people obscure their email addresses
here, and noting that the culture makes that mostly pointless.

Usually people obscure their email addresses to stop spammers from getting
them.

Huh. My firefox handles the spam automatically for me. I don't think I get
two a month it doesn't catch. I guess exposed to the web interface, the
newsgroup would be very scrapable, tho, sure.
