I've seen people claiming that hitting the buildings with a jet plane
wouldn't level them, and that they were actually rigged with explosives.

I have read of the Halifax explosion, but did not know of Black Tom
Island. It was interesting to read on the internet about it.

No, some people use that here too. I've never even heard of someone being
offended by "BCE" and "CE" here, which is kind of odd now that I think of
it. :-)
