I think the important point here is not the speed or the accuracy of the
mechanics and drive systems (stuff like this is already used in automated
assembly), but the video image recognition and control software. As CPU
power increases then I see computer imaging getting more and more
sophisticated and being able to do stuff like throwing that phone and
catching it again. Would be more impressive if they showed it 4 or 5 times
uncut in a row, otherwise who knows it might have take 100 tries to get it
to work.
